Country’s First Frontier Technologies Cloud Innovation Centre to be launched by NITI Aayog

NITI Aayog which is a policy think tank of the Government of India announced the initiation of the Frontier Technologies Cloud Innovation Centre (CIC). The main aim of this initiative is to address societal challenges through digital innovation.

  • NITI Aayog is partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS). This also align with the Prime Minister’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and NOTI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission.
  • The NITI Aayog Frontier Technologies Cloud Innovation Center is the first AWS CIC in India, and the first such centre that has been set up at a national level.

India’s first multi-modal logistics park in Assam by Ministry of Road Transport

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways launched India’s first multi-modal logistics park in Assam. This multi-modal logistic park will be developed under the Bharatmala Pariyojna of the Government of India.

  • The project was launched in order to improve connectivity in the country by 2022. This multi-modal logistics park has an estimated budget of Euro 694 crore.
  • The project would provide direct connectivity through air, road, rail and waterways to the people.

Singapore emerged as the First Country to attach Facial Verification in National Identification Database

Singapore included facial verification to a national identification database. so that the country become the first country to include the technology in its national database.

  • The system introduced is called “SingPass Face Verification”. Though this, a number of government services can be accessed online. It provides 400 online services including public housing applications and tax declarations.

Central Government signs dollar 177 million loan agreement with ADB for Maharashtra Road Improvements

Government of India (GoI) signed loan agreement worth dollar 177 million with Asian Development Bank (ADB) for improve Maharashtra Roads. The loan has been approved to upgrade 450 kilometers of state highways and major district roads in Maharashtra.

  • The project will update road maintenance system on the basis of 5-year performance-based maintenance contracts.

Stellapps unveils “mooPay” for Dairy Farmers in Rajasthan

IIT Madras’s dairy-tech startup Stellapps and WEF’s technology pioneer launched mooPay, which is a first-of-its-kind, fully-automated direct cost platform for dairy farmers in Rajasthan.

  • mooPay allows dairy officers to switch milk funds digitally to member farmers from the dairies’ current checking account to farmers’ financial savings checking account.

OPD of India’s biggest cancer institute to be launched by Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister  Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate OPD (Outpatient Department) service at the Super Specialty Cancer Institute (SSCI) in Lucknow. The SSCI will be the largest cancer centre in the country.

  • According to the reports In 2016, Uttar Pradesh reported 6.7 lakh of 39 lakh cancer cases. The others were north-eastern states, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Haryana, Assam, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh.

UP Governor Anandiben Patel initiated “Safe City Project” for Women Safety

Uttar Pradesh Governor Anadiben Patel initiated “Safe City Project” for women’s safety in the state capital, Lucknow. Under this project police and other governments departments will work towards strengthening the security of women in public places.

Indian Tourist Statistics 2020 Released – Uttar Pradesh top destination for domestic tourists

Ministry of Tourism released the Indian Tourist Statistics. As per the report, Uttar Pradesh emerged as the top tourist destination by attracting the highest number of domestic tourists in the country. According to the report, As many as 53.6 crore domestic tourists visited Uttar Pradesh in 2019.

  • The total number of foreign exchange value due to tourism in 2019 was 29 billion USD.
  • The peak tourism seasons of India are the first and fourth quarters of a calendar.
  • Gender wise distribution: of the foreign tourists arriving India, 58.6% males and 41.4 percent were females.
  • The state bagged the third spot in terms of the arrival of foreign tourists.

Fino Payments Bank plans to introduce additional 300 points at BPCL Outlet in Tamil Nadu

Fino Payments Bank planned to add another 300 points at the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) outlets to its present 1,075 in Tamil Nadu. The aim of this initiative is to help truck drivers to get fleet cards recharged by paying equivalent cash, without any hassles.

  • In addition to BPCL outlets, a network of around 5,000 small business owners in the area, such as kirana, mobile phone repair and dairy outlets, is part of Fino’s banking network spread across Tamil Nadu.

India-Oman Joint Commission Meeting conducted through online mode to boost bilateral Trade & Investment. It was attended by representatives of various government departments/ministries from both sides.

  • Indian side appreciated Oman for signing and ratification of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Framework Agreement
  • For Oman, India was the 3rd largest source for its imports and 3rd largest market for its non-oil exports.

Malabar Exercise 2020 – First Time all the four Quad countries to be participated

According to the Ministry of Defence, Australia will participate in the Malabar naval exercise, in involving the United States, Japan and India. For the First time all the four Quad Countries will participate in this event. The exercise will be scheduled on November 2020.

  • This Exercise will be the first exercise to include all four Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, or “Quad,” nations since 2017.
  • After 2007, Australia is participating in the exercise in 2020.
  • Australia, in 2017, requested for a observer status but it was denied as inclusion of Australia would give message that QUAD grouping is aimed at China.

India successfully test-fired SANT Missile – Developed by DRDO

India India successfully test-fired Stand-Off Anti-Tank Missile named SANT. This missile was developed by The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) which is an agency under the Department of Defence Research and Development in Ministry of Defence of the Government of India.

  • This missile has Lock-on After Launch and Lock-on Before Launch capabilities.
  • The missile has a range of 15 to 20 km.
  • This is the twelfth missile test India has conducted in the last 45 days.
