Andhra Pradesh government has decided to reopen the schools in the state on September 5, 2020. Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed the officials to take necessary preparation for reopening or school from September 5, if the situation will be normal by August. Chief Minister has also guided the officials to be ready for the launch of YSR Vidhya Kanuka on the same day and he also said that students will be provided with a kit of a schoolbag, text and notebooks, cloth of three pairs of uniform, a pair of shoes, two pairs of socks and belt. The kit will include face masks and CM has proposed that students will be taught how to use them as well.
The state government made it clear that it will remain committed to introducing English as the medium of instruction in government-run schools but claimed that its stand with the New National Education Policy (NEP) announced by the Centre recently. The schools were closed down since March 24, when the first nationwide lockdown was imposed by the Centre. At present there in Andhra Pradesh as recorded 1,30,557 positive cases, 60,024 recovered, and 1281 deaths.
