Class 12 students will be evaluated on their performance in the last three school exams. They can also appear for the board exam at a later date to improve performance, in case they are not satisfied with the marks given by the board.
As for the calculation of the result, the board would be releasing the basis of the results the internal assessment for the previous three papers for all the students for the exams that were not conducted. The marks for the internal and the papers that were conducted would be taken as is. For class 10, there would be no option for change – for CBSE Class 12, however, students would have an option to appear for the examination. Clarifying to the SC, SG Mehta has stated that no examinations would be conducted in July. However, for Class 12 students, there would be an option to appear for the examination later when the situation is conducive
The court made this suggestion in response to a plea from a group of parents, who have asked for cancellation of the remaining board exams citing the Covid-19 pandemic. In their plea, the parents said that conducting examinations across over 15,000 centres at this stage would unnecessarily expose children to the risk of contracting Covid-19. It also asked the board to allot marks to students for the remaining papers on the basis of their internal assessment and performance in practicals and examinations they took in March.
The announcement of the CBSE exams is also going to impact the admission process of all central universities as well as the national entrance exams including JEE Main and NEET 2020.
