CBSE Decision to be out on Thursday:
CBSE board exams are more critical considering that the marks obtained by a student in Class 12 are a pre-requisite for admission to universities as well as for entrance exams like JEE and NEET. Thus, a delayed result would mean a delay in the admission process. Most of the universities including the University of Delhi (DU) have started their admission process already.
The CICSE board has already announced that class 10 and 12 students can choose to not appear for pending board exams and be marked as per their performance in pre-board exams or internal assessment.
“The decision-making process is at an advance stage and would be finalised by Thursday,” said the solicitor general appearing for the Centre and the CBSE. The hearing in the case has been deferred till 2 PM Thursday.
A three-judge bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari, and Sanjiv Khanna heard the petitions of students’ parents, seeking cancellation of the remaining Class 12 board exams scheduled for July amid coronavirus risks. After the Centre’s submission, the court said it will hear the case on June 25.
