Union Minister Launch “Sugamya Bharat App” And a Handbook:

Union Minister for Social justice and Empowerment Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot will virtually launch “Sugamya Bharat App” and a handbook entitled “Access – The Photo Digest” through video conference.

  • The App and the handbook have been developed by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.
  • The IoS version of the App will be available by 15th March 2021.

MIS 2021:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the Second Maritime India Summit (MIS) 2021 on 02.03.2021. Several countries are participating in the event including the CEOs and Ambassadors of several countries to boost investment in the Maritime sector in India.

  • Over one lakh participants from 50 countries have registered online for MIS summit 2021 which is scheduled from March 2 to March 4.
  • More than 3 Lakh Crore investment expected through MIS 2021 and around 400 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)s are likely to be signed during the second edition of the Maritime India Summit 2021.

GAPIO Annual Global Indian Physicians Congress 2021:

 The Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (GAPIO) organised its annual Global Indian Physicians Congress on February 27, 28. GAPIO is a non-profit organization and leading association for the Indian medical diaspora. More than 5000 participants from USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Middle East, Africa, UAE, India and other countries participated in the Congress.

  • Dr Harsh Vardhan, the Health Minister, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare was Chief Guest

Matam Venkata Rao appointed as MD & CEO of Central Bank of India:

Matam Venkata Rao has been appointed as new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Central Bank for a period of three years. He was the Executive Director of Canara Bank. Rao’s appointment in the Central Bank of India will be effective from the date of assumption of office on or after March 1, 2021 or until further orders.

Manpreet Vohra appointed India’s High Commissioner to Australia:

Senior diplomat Manpreet Vohra has been appointed as India’s next High Commissioner to Australia. Vohra’s appointment comes at a time when the India-Australia ties are at an upswing and the two countries are stepping up cooperation particularly in the Indo-Pacific region.

Marcus Trescothick named England’s batting coach:

Former opener Marcus Trescothick has been appointed as England’s new elite batting coach, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). In the bowling department, Jon Lewis and Jeetan Patel have been named as England’s pace and spin bowling coaches respectively.

  • Trescothick will take up the new role in the middle of March.

Prashant Kishor has been appointed as the political analyst of Punjab CM:

Political analyst Prashant Kishor has been appointed as the political analyst of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. Kishor was most recently engaged by the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress dispensation.

  • Kishor had played a crucial role in the 2017 state assembly elections.
