Indian Railways initiates Hospital Management Information System Project for the work force

Indian Railways has launched Hospital Management Information System Project for the well-being of work force.

  • The HMIS in Railways has been developed by Indian Railways in coordination with RailTel Corporation Limited.
  • The Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) has been launched by Dr. B. P Nanda, Director General, Railway Health services, Railway Board through online mode.

Tourism Minister inaugurates Association of Buddhist Tour Operator (ABTO) International Convention

The Union Minister of state for tourism and culture minister Prahlad Singh Patel launched the Association of Buddhist our operators International Convention in New Delhi.

  • The Union Ministry has sanctioned more than Rs 350 cr for the development of Buddhist Sites under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme
  • The ministry also allocated Rs.900 crore for the PRASHAD Scheme.

India – Myanmar had held a meeting on Drug Control Cooperation virtually through video conferencing.

  • The meeting was conducted by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), India and the Central Committee on Drug Abuse Control, Myanmar
  • The Indian side was represented by the Director General Narcotics Control Bureau, Shri Rakesh Asthana.

India’s First National Centre for Divyang Empowerment launched in Telangana

Country’s First National Centre for Divyang Empowerment (NCDE) at the CRPF Group Centre in Hakimpet near Hyderabad in Telangana.

This was launched by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, G Kishan Reddy.

The main aim of these center is re-skill and rehabilitate the Divyang Warriors of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF)

Time magazine names Joe Biden & Kamala Harris as Person of the Year

US president Joe Biden and vice-president Kamala Harris have been jointly named Time Magazine’s 2020 Person of the Year. This is the first time that time magazine included a vice-president.

  • Joe Biden who served two terms as vice president to Barack Obama, will become the oldest person to assume the office of U.S. president
  • Kamala Harris was the first Indian American to serve as a U.S. senator as well as the second African American woman.
  • The Person of the Year is usually an individual, but multiple people have been named in the past.


ADB Predicts India’s GDP at -8% in FY20 & 8% in FY2021

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) that is a regional development bank for Asian countries has forecasted India’s economy at -8 per cent in 2020. The Bank has earlier predicted the economy for the fiscal year at -9.0 per cent

  • ADB also forecast the GDP of India to rebound with growth of 8.0 percent in 2021.

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan represented in India in the World Bank inter ministerial meet which was held with the theme of vaccination of South Asia against COVID-19

  • The minister highlights about the CO-WIN platform of India that allows Indian citizens to self register them for vaccination.
  • The Platform also monitors citizens status and be provids with a QR code based electronic vaccination certificate upon completion of the process.

Zena Wooldridge designated as World Squash Federation President, succeeds Jacques Fontaine

Zena Wooldridge became the second woman to head World Squash Federation President. She has succeeded the ongoing president Jacques Fontaine

  • She will serve as president for four year term. Prior to this, Wooldridge served as President of the European Squash Federation between 2013 and 2019.

Romanian Prime Minister Ludovic Orban has resigned from his ruling centre-right National Liberal Party.  Following to this Defence Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca was designated as Interim Prime Minister.

  • Ciuca is a retired Romanian army general who became defence minister in November 2019.

Nana Addo Dankwa was Re elected as the president of Ghana. Akufo-Addo of the governing New Patriotic Party won Monday’s election outright with 51.6% of the votes.

  • He defeated former President John Dramani Mahama of the main opposition National Democratic Congress
