Indian Institute of Science (IISc) designed ‘AnamNet’:

Indian Institute of Science (IISc) designed a special tool called ‘AnamNet’ to diagnose the severity of coronavirus infection in patients’ lungs. Researchers from the Departments of Computational and Data Science (CDS) and Instrumentation and Applied Physics at IISc conducted the study in collaboration with colleagues from the Oslo University Hospital and the University of Agder in Norway.

  • The software is designed to ‘segment’ the scan as ‘infected’ and ‘not infected’.

Amazon India signed a MoU with DGR:

Amazon India has signed a MoU with the Directorate General Resettlement (DGR). Under this partnership, Amazon India will create alternate career opportunities for ex-service personnel who have served the country.

  • The company aims to hire 25,000 military veterans by 2025.
  • This collaborative is an expansion of Amazon India’s existing Military Veterans Employment programme.

Indian and Indonesian navies carried out a “PASSEX” military exercise:

Indian and Indonesian navies carried out a military exercise in the Arabian Sea. This exercise aims to enhance operational interoperability and overall cooperation. Indian naval ship INS Talwar and Indonesian Navy’s multirole corvette KRI Bung Tomo were part of the exercise.

NAVDEX 21, IDEX 21 to be conducted:

NAVDEX 21 (Naval Defence Exhibition) and IDEX 21 (International Defence Exhibition), are to be conducted from 20 to 25 February 2021. INS Pralaya, the second ship of the indigenously built Prabal Class Missile Vessels arrived at Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Music director Issac Thomas Kottukapally passed away:

Noted music director Issac Thomas Kottukapally, has passed away.  Isaac had won the best music director award at the National Film Awards in 2010 for his background score in the film ‘Aadaminte Makan Abu’.

  • Issac has worked in Kannada and Hindi films apart from Malayalam and has also produced several advertisement films and documentaries.

India’s Ankita Raina claim WTA title:

India’s Ankita Raina on Friday claimed her maiden WTA title by lifting the Phillip Island Trophy along with Russian partner Kamilla Rakhimova. She shared the USD 8000 prize money with her partner.

  • Ankita will become only the second player to crack the doubles top-100 since Sania Mirza, who is a six-time Grand Slam champion.

 Ajai Malhotra elected as chairperson of Advisory Committee at Human Rights Council:

Ajai Malhotra has become the first Indian to be elected as the Chairperson of the Advisory Committee of the Human Rights Council. Malhotra has previously served as ambassador to Russia, Kuwait, Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Romania (with concurrent accreditation to Moldova and Albania) from 2003 to 2005.
