Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia conducted a review of the online education system followed by the schools. The Deputy CM in the meeting highlighted that online education is not a substitute for School Education as its aim is to keep the learning process forward during the lockdown time. The minister was speaking in a review conducted online with the parents and teachers of the schools in the city.

Universities and schools across the country have been closed since March 2020 when the lockdown was announced by the central government in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Schools have been conducting classes for the students in the online mode to make sure that the students do not miss out on their academic time due to the lockdown. Examinations for the students were also canceled by the schools except for class 10 and 12 students. The students were promoted to the next year based on the marks secured in the previous examinations.

The education minister was interacting with the teachers and parents at a government school in Chirag Enclave to review the online and semi-online education system incorporated due to the closure of schools in the state. While conducting the review with the parents the Deputy Chief Minister also suggested the idea of conducting the Parent-Teacher Meeting through video conference so that the parents can also share their concerns with the teachers.

Deputy CM during the review meeting also added that the students are facing huge losses due to the ongoing pandemic and the kind of exposure and growth the children receive while coming to schools cannot be compensated through the online medium. He further pointed out that the motive of the education department is to reduce the quantity of loss which the students are facing for which the online and semi-online education has been incorporated is the need of the hour. He also added that the present situation is not enough for the development of the children but rather is useful to keep the learning process moving forward for the students.
