Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia calls for cancellation of JEE Main and NEET 2020 Exams. The urgent call demanding either postponement or cancellation of NEET 2020 and JEE Main 2020 entrance exam, has now got support of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
Sisodia on Saturday took to twitter asking the Central Govt to Cancel JEE Main and NEET 2020 entrance exams keeping health, safety and interest of students in mind. He also appealed to the Central Govt and the Education Ministry to come up with an alternative selection scheme for admission to medical and engineering entrance exam in the light of the prevailing situation due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Alternative Admission Methodology Required:
In a series of tweet messages that were sent out from his official account, Mr Sisodia said that:
“Today in 21st century India, we cannot think of an alternate option for entrance examinations! This is not possible. Only the intention of the government should be to think in the interest of students, instead of conducting NEET-JEE, there can be thousands of safe ways.”
Demands Get Political Backing after SC’s Dismissal of Plea:
Students or aspirants and their parents have been demanding postponement of the entrance exam or cancellation of the same, citing the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the country and the risk that it poses to candidates appearing for the exam. The demands for NEET 2020 and JEE Main 2020 postponement have continued even after the Supreme Court of India dismissed multiple petitions demanding the same.
Earlier, Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy had also backed the demand saying that JEE Main and NEET 2020 entrance exams should be postponement and be held only after Diwali.
