Delhi Schools To Remain Closed Till July 31. In view of the raging coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic outbreak, all schools in the national capital will remain closed till July 31, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia announced on Friday. Universities and schools across the country have been closed since March 16 when the central government announced a countrywide classroom shutdown as one of the measures to contain the COVID-19 outbreak. Earlier, the Delhi government had announced an extension of the summer vacation in government schools in the national capital till June 30. The vacations had kicked off on May 11.
Last week, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had said that many schools in the national capital are taking fees arbitrarily, and charging transportation fees even when schools are closed due to the lockdown, and urged them to refrain from doing so. The private schools had also followed a similar schedule.
