The government cancelled all the exams that were not held. As here the schools and colleges were all closed for several months due to the corona. The Government of Tamil Nadu has cancelled all the examinations except the final semester examination for not only the schools but also the colleges. The news was received among the students but caused great shock among the various academics.
Final Semester Exam Mandatory:
The UGC has filed a case in the Chennai High Court seeking to have the university conduct the final semester examination. As various parties are expected to cancel the final semester examination. While the case was pending, the Tamil Nadu government announced that the Arrear students had also passed in the final semester. Former Deputy Chief Minister Balakumarasamy and advocate Ramkumar have filed a case in the Chennai High Court seeking annulment of the notice.
Answer petition filed on behalf of UGC:
All universities are instructed to conduct the final semester exam online or directly with corona precautionary measures including individual withdrawal. It is also advised to complete the final semester examination by Sept. 30.
The Supreme Court dismissed the cases filed against it and said that the final semester exams were necessary. The apex court also said that if the examination could not be held, the deadline could be extended upto Sept. 30. Thus the answer is stated in the petition.
