Covid – 19 pandemics is adversely affecting the education of children in every economic sector. On Thursday HRD ministry announced that no schools should remove the migrant worker’s children’s name, who has returned to their home during this crisis from their enrollment registers.
MHRD advises the schools to keep the documents of every student who has left for their homes in a local state or other states. The documents must be prepared by the schools taking information from parents, guardians of all children through phone or other possible ways.
The current place of residence must also be noted for every student “While all care must be taken to ensure that their names are not struck off the rolls (as the possibility of their return anytime is always there), their numbers may be reported class-wise to the Directorate of Education to compensate for any input costs to be incurred by the school such as mid-day meals, distribution of textbooks and uniforms if not already completed,” the HRD Ministry highlighted in the guidelines.
The migrant student can seek admission with id proof regardless of transfer certificate or proof of class earlier attended. The information given by parents is taken as correct and valid to get admit in nearby government or government-aided schools. Such an approach from MHRD assures that no child is denied of education during this crisis.
