International Snow Leopard Day is observed on October 23. Every year International Snow Leopard Day is observed on October 23. The day is celebrated to increase awareness on protecting and preserving the Snow Leopards on the earth.’

Background:

This day was first celebrated on 2014, after the signing of the Bishkek declaration on the conservation of the snow leopards during the First Global Snow Leopard forum in Bishkek, the capital of Krygyzstan in 2013.

Snow Leopard Conservation centre:

The Uttarakhand State Government is to develop India’s first Snow Leopard Conservation centre. The centre is to be developed by the Uttarakhand forest department and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
