The Karnataka state Deputy Chief Minister Dr. C N Ashwath Narayan has stated:

The government will be setting up 16 new universities. While speaking at a Press Conference conducted, the Deputy CM further added that the universities and 34 new autonomous educational institutions in the coming three years. The new universities will be set with an aim to achieve the goals of the new National Education Policy by 2030.

NEP:

The New National Education Policy was approved by the central government earlier this month with many new changes incorporated for the education system in the country. The aim of the new policy is to universalize education from pre-school to secondary level with 100 percent Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in school education by 2030. Also, the current 10+2 system in schools will be replaced by the 5+3+3+4 curriculum structure

The Deputy CM Said:

The Karnataka State Government will be establishing six research-center universities, 10 teaching centres universities, and 34 autonomous educational institutions in three years. He also stated that the Taskforce led by former chief Secretary SV Ranganath formed for implementing the policy will be submitting a draft report in the next four or five days and the roadmap for carrying out the policy will be furnished before August 29, 2020.

Amendment to the law, administrative reforms, and consolidation of the resources which are required for implementing the policy will be done in an expeditious manner. Since the policy has to be implemented in 10 years the government has given the name ‘Target-2030’ in order to achieve its goal. The Deputy CM also stated that there will be deliberations and discussions across the state for a year, the state government will take into account the stakeholders before implementation.
