Lessons for Class 10, 12 to be telecast on Kalvi Tholaikatchi TV channel. The state board students who have been promoted to Class 12 can download audio-visual content of the curriculum on their laptops provided by the state government for free.

As the world is battling against the coronavirus outbreak, all educational institutes have been asked to shut. In order to keep pace with the lessons, the education in Tamil Nadu schools has turned to Television mode amid the coronavirus outbreak where Chief Minister K Palaniswami launched the lessons for Class X and XII to be telecasted through government’s Kalvi Tholaikatchi (Education TV channel), on Tuesday, July 14, 2020.

As the schools have been closed from March 17 to curb the spread of COVID-19 infections in Tamil Nadu where 1,47,324 have been infected due to the coronavirus, thus telecasting lessons on TV will help students who are confined to their houses amid the pandemic.

Kalvi Tholaikatchi channel:

According to the official release, the lessons here will be telecasted for two-and-a-half hours daily from Monday to Friday. Also, in the presence of school education minister KA Senkgottaiyan and senior officials, chief minister Palaniswami also launched free textbook schemes for 10th and 12th class students.

Online classes during COVID-19:

Also, the state board students who have been promoted to Class 12 can download audio-visual content of the curriculum on their laptops provided by the state government for free. According to PTI, ‘The School Education Department runs the Kalvi Tholaikatchi channel offering video lessons for all levels contributed by senior teachers from across the state’. Meanwhile, the report has been submitted to the Chief Minister by CG Thomas Vaidyan, commissioner of the Department of School Education.

Kalvi Tholaikatchi, Tamil Nadu’s educational channel was launched in August 2019 by Chief Minister Palaniswami to help government school students with regard to board exams, entrance exams, scholarships, counseling etc. Programs here are telecasted to train students for competitive examinations, creativity enhancements, important announcements and much more. The channel’s content includes shows aimed at school children, besides those on jobs and related issues.
