Lockdown to be revoked in West Bengal on September 12 due to NEET 2020 Exams. The West Bengal Government has decided to cancel the statewide lockdown on September 12, 2020, due to the NEET 2020 examinations. NEET 2020 exams are scheduled to be conducted on September 13, 2020.
West Bengal Chief Minister made the announcement on her official twitter handle:
The state government had earlier decided to have a lockdown on September 11 and 12, 2020 however the same have been lifted due to the requests from students.
Students while keeping the state lockdown as it are on September 11, 2020, it has been decided that the lockdown on September 12, 2020, will remain cancelled so that the students can appear for the exams on September 13, 2020.
The NEET 2020 exams were scheduled to be conducted in May 2020 but were postponed due to the COVID-19 lockdown. The exams have since been postponed until further notice keeping in mind the safety of the students.
Approximately 15.67 lakh candidates have applied for the NEET 2020 exams from all across the country. The exams will be conducted on September 13, 2020 afternoons from 2 PM to 5 PM.
