Madhya Pradesh Govt to conduct Final Year Exams for College / Universities in September as per UGC Guidelines. Madhya Pradesh government will be conducting the Final year exams for the university students in September as per the guidelines set by the UGC issued in July 2020.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan said
The announcement was made by the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan following which it was also announced that the results for the final semester students will be declared in October 2020. The Government will be conducting the final year exams in the inline open book exam format.
Undergraduate students from the first and second year along with the Postgraduate students will be provided admission to the next year/semester based on the exam results of the previous year and the internal evaluation of the current semester/ year- He added
Madya Pradesh government had earlier decided to cancel the final year exams of both the UG and PG students. The Chief Minister had announced that the announcement of the final year results will be done based on the marks obtained by the students in the previous year/ semester.
Official statement released
The evaluation of the open book examinations will be conducted based on the 50 percent weightage given on the scores of the previous year or semester and 50 percent on the open book exams. Close to 5.71 lakh students will now benefit from the decision taken by the government.
The University Grants Commission recently revised the guidelines for the universities across the states to conduct the final semester examinations for the UG and PG students by the end of September 2020.
UGC Guidelines Hearing at Supreme Court
UGC has been directed by the Supreme Court to respond to the petitions challenging the directive to all the universities and colleges to conduct the final year exams by September 30 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan stated that the replies must be filed by the UGC and the Centre on the pleas and has further posted the matter for further hearing on July 31, 2020.
