MHRD releases List of top Central Universities – Jamia Milia Islamia secures top spot. The Ministry of Education every year releases a list of Central Universities along with their rankings. These rankings are released as per the parameters established in the Memorandum of Understandings in the year 2019-20. Jamia Millia Islamia secured the highest with 90 percent while Rajiv Gandhi University secured the second position among all the central universities in the country. In the recent list issued by the Ministry of Education, Jamia has scored 90 percent and secured the top position. While the Rajiv Gandhi University of Arunachal Pradesh has been ranked the second-best with a tally of 83 percent marks. The third rank has been secured by Aligarh Muslim University with an overall score of 78 percent.
The reports said that the rank was based on parameters like number of students who get admitted each year in UG, PG, PhD and MPhil courses. It also takes into account the range of diversity among students in terms of percentage of female students as well as students from other states and countries.
The quality of faculty, student-teacher ratio, teacher vacancy also played a part in determining the score.
The Jamia Milia Islamia statement also said that the university did well on parameters of governance, finance, nationwide and worldwide rankings like NIRF, NAAC and QS in addition to co-curricular and extracurricular actions.
Jamia Millia Islamia is a Central University located in Jamia Nagar, New Delhi. India. Originally established at Aligarh, United Provinces during the British Raj in 1920, it moved to its current location in Okhla in 1935. It was given the deemed status by University Grants Commission in 1962.
