Ministry of Human Resources Development is now officially named as Ministry of Education. President Ram Nath Kovind provided his formal assent for renaming Ministry of Human Resource Development to as the Ministry of Education as part of the New Education Policy 2020. Following the approval of President Kovind, a gazette notification published on Monday formalizing the renaming of the ministry. Today morning, the President Kovind’s office notified Union Cabinet’s decision to rename HRD Ministry to Ministry of Education formally. The Union Cabinet led by PM Narendra Modi had approved renaming of the ministry on 29th July along with granting its approval for the New National Education Policy 2020.
Rest of the Ministry of Human Resource Management to Ministry of Education, was proposed as part of the New Education Policy 2020 that was approved by the Cabinet on 29th July 2020. The change was proposed in the policy itself. Currently, the ministry is headed by Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ at the union level and Sanjay Dhotre at the state level. Following approval from the Cabinet, respective ministers at Union and State Levels had renamed their profiles on social media channels as well. The official website also underwent change in accordance with the chance in the nomenclature.
Offical renaming of the ministry, President Kovind’s office issued a gazette notification on Monday. The gazette notification also allows changes in the Government of India (Allocation of Business) Rules, 1961, regarding the change in the name of the ministry
