Mumbai Colleges have declared the first-year junior college admissions merit list under the minority quota. First Year Junior College cut-offs were released for various minority colleges recently. Many colleges in Mumbai have declared the first merit list for admissions under the minority quota on August 15, 2020. On Monday Mithibai College and NM College released their cut-offs for Gujarati minority and in house quota applicants. Check here for Vartak College, Viva College, Xavier’s and NM College cut-offs.
Vile Parle’s NM College also saw the cut-offs with 560 students from Gujarati community this year. The cut off was 92% this year compared to 89.8% last year. The top student in the college stands at 99.2% and the in-house quota cut-offs are 89.8% this year. It was 80% last year.This year Arts has emerged as a popular stream among top scorers. The colleges recorded a considerably high cut-off for arts, compared to science and commerce. At St Xavier’s College in Fort, the cut off for Christian minority noted an increment from 84% to 85% this year. However, the cut-offs for science at the college saw a slight dip in comparison to previous years.
Many other minority colleges will be declaring their first merit list for the minority quota in the coming days. Minority Institutions may conduct their quota admissions until August 22, 2020. The first merit list would be announced on August 30, 2020. Marie Fernandes, principal, St Andrews College said, “One can see that the demand for arts has increased amongst top scorers. This has been the case over the last few years. We are, however, surprised to see an increase in the science stream and a marginal dip in the commerce stream which was known to be popular for several years.”
