Nag Anti-tank Guided Missile – India successfully tested the Last trial in Pokhran. India Successfully test the last trail of Nag Anti-tank Guided Missile in Pokhran field firing ranges in Rajasthan. The missile was developed by The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is an agency under the Department of Defence Research and Development in Ministry of Defence of the Government of India.

Significance:

  • The Defence Ministry in 2018 had cleared the acquisition of 300 Nag missiles for the Indian Army.
  • The trial of Nag anti-tank guided missile comes after the DRDO tested the helicopter launched Stand-off Anti-Tank Missile (SANT) with a range beyond 10 km from Balasore testing range in Odisha.
  • The Nag anti-tank missile is ready for induction in the Indian Army.
  • It has completed 10 successful user trial as it finds the target and then hit it.
  • The Nag Missile system fired from a Nag Missile Carrier (NAMICA) can attack targets at ranges of 4 to 7 kilometres

Missile tested by India Recently:

  • DRDO Recently test-fired Prithvi II Missile on Odisha. It has a range of 250 km and can carry a 1 tonne warhead.
  • BrahMos missile was test-fired by DRDO recently. The missile has a top speed of Mach 2.8 which is nearly three times the speed of sound.
  • RUSTOM II surveillance Drone also recently test-fired by DRDO. The capability of the Drone is to be increased to a height of 26000 feet and fly for 18 hours
  • The Defence organization test-fired SMART (Supersonic Missile Assisted Release of Torpedo) Missile on Odisha. This launch and demonstration is significant in establishing anti-submarine warfare capabilities
  • Rudram 1which is India’s First Anti-Radiation Missile, Successfully tested in Odisha by DRDO. It can target surveillance radars, guidance radars, communication towers, command and control centres and any other radiation-emitting sources. It has a range of 250 km.
