National Awards to Teachers 2020 – Apply till July 6. Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has opened the application window for the National Awards to Teachers 2020. Interested teachers can apply for the award till July 6, 2020. Applications will be given on the MHRD website, employed teachers also have a chance From July 7, the district selection committee will send the nomination to the state.
The award is conferred to school teachers and heads of schools working in recognized primary, middle, high, and higher secondary schools. Teachers from both government and private schools can apply for the awards.
MHRD awards National Award to Teachers every year on the occasion of Teacher’s Day. Normally retired teachers are not eligible for the award but those teachers who have served a part of the calendar year (at least for four months i.e. up to April 30 in the year to which National Awards relate) can be considered for the award if they fulfill all other conditions. Teachers who apply for the award will be evaluated on two criteria – objective criteria, and performance-based criteria
The eligibility criteria for National Awards to Teachers 2020 specify that retired teachers can not apply for the awards. But there is an exception to this rule. If a teacher has served at least four months in the current calendar year in the profession, i.e., up to 30th April 2020, then he/she can be eligible to apply for the awards, subject to fulfillment of other specified eligibility conditions. The evaluation of the applications for National Awards to Teachers 2020 will be based on two key aspects, i.e., objective and performance-based. The weightage of the objective criteria is 20%, while the performance makes up for 80% of the weightage
National Awards to Teachers 2020: Selection Process:
The selection process for National Awards to Teachers 2020 is as follows: – The application for the National Awards to Teachers 2020 must be submitted online. District Selection Committee will scrutinize the applications and forwards three names to the State Selection Committee. The State Selection Committee will prepare a shortlist of the candidates based on the maximum number allowed to the respective state or UT. The names will then be forwarded to the National Level Independent Jury. There is also an Organization Selection Committee for other organizations. Shortlisted candidates will have to make a 45-min presentation before the National Jury, which will then select 45 names from the list along with two names for differently-abled teachers in the special category
How to Apply?
Applications for the award can be submitted online through a web portal. The first level of scrutiny will be done by a District Selection Committee (DSC). DSC will shortlist 3 names and forward these to the State Selection Committee (SSC). The state committee will prepare to shortlist of the best candidates, subject to the maximum number allotted to the States/UTs and forward the same to Independent Jury at the National level through an online portal. There will also be an Organization Selection Committee (OSC) for other organizations.
