NEET, JEE Mains 2020 – We are ready for Exams, says Uttarakhand government. The Uttarakhand government announced that they are ready to follow the Centre’s guidelines and are prepared for NEET, JEE 2020 exams, adding that they have conducted board exams with a bigger number of students and managing students for the entrance exam will not be a hard task for the government. Pankaj Pandey, secretary in charge of medical education in the state said: “The examinations will be organized in the state according to the guidelines of the central government. Board exams have also been conducted in the state amid the Covid-19 outbreak, which has more exam candidates than NEET-JEE. These examinations will also be carried out in accordance with all safety standards”.
Earlier, Members of the state unit of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) protested to demand postponement of entrance exams. Protesters burned an effigy of Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, trade union minister for education.
State President of NSUI Mohan Bhandari said, “Why does the government want to risk the lives of so many students from across the country. In our state, most of the roads are blocked due to landslides, then there is a pandemic situation; amid such situations the government wants students to sit for exams.”
JEE Main examination will be held between September 1 to 6 and the NEET examination is scheduled for September 13. The NTA assured all the students of a safe environment in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.
