New comet Neowise to be visible in Indian skies after sunset said by NASA. A new comet Neowise is visible in Indian skies from July 14. NASA says this will be visible for about 20 days in the northwestern side soon after the sunset. This Neowise was close b with Mercury’s orbit a week ago. Since it was near the Sun there might be dust formation and its travel is approaching our way for about 2 weeks.
Subhendu Pattnaik, deputy director of Pathani Samanta Planetarium in Bhubaneswar said, “C/2020 F3, a comet discovered on March 27, will be clearly visible and can see through naked eyes.” He also said the appearance of Neowise is low in the beginning and it rapidly climbs higher and will be visible for long hours.
NASA says the comet is nearly 3 miles across and its nucleus is made up of soot material which takes us to the olden days solar system i.e 4.6 million years back. The comet is traveling about 200 million kilometers away from the Earth. It will be visible till mid of august till it travels near the outer surface of the solar system. Binoculars are needed to view the tail of the comet.
Astronauts from International Space Station have taken a glimpse and NASA’s Bob Behnken tweeted the picture and background of the comet. The picture shows the central Asia, space station and the comet to describe us.
