Odisha Government to reduce school syllabus – confirms State Education Minister. Odisha Government decided to implement syllabus reduction for school students in the near future in the wake of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic situation. The news has been confirmed by the School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash in a recent interaction with a national level media agency. Stay with us to get daily updates.

The Minister said, “We are working on the issue of syllabus reduction for students. Though no decision has been taken yet on how much it will be reduced, a clear picture is likely to come in a couple of days.”

“All the schools in Odisha are now closed till August 31, as per the previous decision. Odisha is now witnessing a peak in COVID-19 cases and the month of September is also going to be crucial in the ongoing fight against coronavirus,” he added.

While talking about the quantum of the syllabus that will be reduced as part of the overall plan of the government, Mr Dash added that the exact percentage by which the syllabus would be reduced will be decided on the basis of the reopening plan shared by the central government.

Many Boards this year including Haryana Board, Rajasthan Board etc have reduced the syllabus by 25-30 per cent in wake of the pandemic. Recently, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) revised the syllabus for the Classes 9 to 12 during the academic session 2020-21 in the wake of the situation created by COVID-19.
