In the statement released by the varsity:
All regular students belonging to intermediate semesters/ years of the academic year 2019-2020 will be promoted to next semester/ year. However, these students will have to clear the exams, including the backlogs whenever the examinations are held to finally complete the course.
The students who have been detained in the intermediate semesters during or prior to the academic year 2018-19 shall also be promoted to the nest higher semesters as per OU Promotion Rules. These students will also have to appear and clear the backlogs, whenever the exams are conducted in the near future.
The varsity has asked the Principals to take necessary action at their end and also arrange to conduct online classes in the state. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has already given out the verdict on Final Year Exams 2020 on August 28. The apex court has ruled that while the examinations can be cancelled by the states under the Disaster Management Act, the degrees cannot be promoted. The states can, in turn, approach UGC to get an extension of the deadlines.
