Education Minister’s Statement on Educational Institutions Reopening:
Mahmood said that it had been decided to allow schools to call its administration staff before September 15 and announced that training will be conducted to ensure that SOPs are implemented. The participants at the conference decided that institutions should stay closed until the first week of September and reopened after the coronavirus situation has been reviewed under standard operating procedures (SOPs).
The Education Minister said that provinces will be responsible for ensuring SOPs that are followed, cautioning schools to follow the procedures laid out by the government. “It is my request to private schools, especially, that the SOPs that you will have to follow will be the ones made by the government,” he said.
In Pakistan the number of coronavirus cases on Thursday crossed the 240,000-mark after 3,359 new infections were detected in the last 24 hours, while 61 people died of the disease, taking the death toll to 4,983, the health ministry said. According to the Ministry of National Health Services, the number of recovered patients have reached 145,311 and Many private schools are seeking permission to reopen. While the parents of the students have protested for the opening of the school on 16 July due to the epidemic and the summer season.
