PISA postponed by one year, to be held in 2022 MHRD. A Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) was held in 2021 Then the Programme has been postponed by one year and will now be held in 2022. The letter stated that Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has confirmed that the main PISA main survey for the current cycle scheduled for 2021 has been postponed by one year to 2022 with a field trial in 2021.” The field trial was earlier scheduled in April this year.
The letter from MHRD further stated that the lockdown period should be utilized for improving children’s reading skills. “Secretary department of school education and literacy has desired that since schools are closed due to COVID-19, this time of home lockdown may be utilized for focusing on Children’s reading ability and speed with comprehension.”
PISA 2022 will see participation of students from Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Kendriya Vidyalya Sangathan and schools in the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
It was in 2018 that Prime Minister Narendra Modi selected Chandigarh for PISA 2021. It had last participated in 2009, when India had not done well and therefore it stopped participating thereafter. To succeed this year various changes have been brought to the system including trainings, content for the same by MHRD.
PISA is a competency-based evaluation which in contrast to content-based evaluation, measures the extent to which college students have acquired key competencies which might be important for full participation in trendy societies. It’s a triennial worldwide survey (each three years) which goals to judge the training system worldwide by testing the talents and data of 15-year-old college students. The College students are assessed in studying, arithmetic, science and collaborative problem-solving.
