Professor Sanjay Dwivedi appointed DG of IIMC. Professor Sanjay Dwivedi was appointed as the Director General of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) here, according to a Personnel Ministry order. K S Dhatwalia, Principal Director General in the Press Information Bureau, has been holding the additional charge of the post of Director General , IIMC since June 1, 2019, officials said. About IIMC:

Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) is an Indian media centre of learning funded and promoted by the Government of India in New Delhi.The IIMC is an autonomous society under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.The then Minister Incharge of Information and Broadcasting, Indira Gandhi had formally inaugurated the institute on 17 August 1965.The institute has five regional centres at Aizawl (Mizoram), Amravati (Maharashtra), Dhenkanal (Odisha), Jammu (J&K) and Kottayam (Kerala).

About Professor Sanjay Dwivedi:

Dwivedi has over 14 years of experience as a journalist in print, electronic, and online media. He has served in prestigious media houses such as Dainik Bhaskar, Haribhumi, Navbharat, Swedesh, Info India Dot Com, and G-24, the first satellite channel of Chhatisgarh. He joined MCNUJC in 2009 and served as Head of Department and Registrar of the University.

Sanjay Dwivedi is currently the Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National Journalism and Communication University, Bhopal. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved his appointment as Director General of IIMC on the basis of direct recruitment for a period of three years. He was the President of the Department of Mass-Communication for 10 years in MCU. Presently, he was also Professor and Vice-Chancellor of the University and Executive Editor of ‘Media Discourse’ magazine.

K S Dhatwalia, Principal Director General in the Press Information Bureau, has been holding the additional charge of the post of DG, IIMC since June 1, 2019, officials said. Candidates were shortlisted for the post of DG, IIMC on the basis of applications received in response to an advertisement issued last year, they said.
