All schools in India have been closed for the past 5 months due to the spread of corona virus. As a result, the exams have been canceled and the schools have not reopened as the next academic year begins. The federal government has now officially announced the opening of schools as the school year progresses through online classes.
Government of India is following a Phase wise unlocking an activities. In days to come, this would also involved partial resumption of activities in school for students on classes 9th to 12th on a voluntary basis, for taking guidance from the teachers.
This SPO outlines various generic precautionary measures to be adopted in addition to specific measures to be taken when schools are permitting students (class 9th to 12th) to prevent spread of COVIS – 19.
Generic Preventive Measures:
- The government has said that it is mandatory to maintain a 6-foot distance between students in classrooms and that arrangements must be made.
- Staff should maintain community space in rooms, office area, canteen, libraries and other places.
- Other safety measures such as face masks, sanitizers, and frequent hand washing should also be followed.
