Minister Recommendation on Synchronized Calendar:

On July 7, Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ held a review meeting with ministry officials and Delhi University to discuss a “synchronized calendar” for DU admission 2020 and CBSE board exam results. Delhi University had previously extended the deadline to submit undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. application forms till July 18. Earlier, the last date was July 4.

Previously Delhi University has extended the last date for applicants to submit the applications for the UG, PG and Ph.D. application forms until July 18, 2020. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is also expected to declare the class 10 and 12 board examination results by July 15, 2020.

On July 7, CBSE announced that it will reduce the syllabus for Classes 9 to 12 on account of the “extraordinary situation” of COVID-19. The CBSE results are expected by July 15. The board was planned to conduct the examinations for the class 10 and 12 students in July but was faced with an opposition that filed a petition stating that the situation was not safe enough for the board to conduct the exams. Following this, the board announced a revised scheme for the assessment of class 10 and 12 students remaining examinations and declaration of the results.

The board has also announced a reduction in the syllabus for the class 9 to 12 students due to the COVID-19 lockdown situation. At present, DU is accepting registration from students and does not require them to fill in their final results. The application deadline for DU is July 18.
