Tamil Nadu State Education Minister KA Sengottiyan has annunciated that the lessons for the school students in the state are to be telecasted from August 1, 2020. The lessons will be telecast on 14 channels.
While speaking to the media, the Minister stated that a decision on the syllabus and the re-opening of the schools in the state will be taken by an 18 member expert committee. The education minister also included that almost 52 lakh students have been facilitated with the provision of laptops at free-cost. Moreover, Chief Minister K Palaniswami has inaugurated the televised classes for the students.
The announcement of the online classes which was already taken during the COVID-19 pandemic. This decision has faced a lot of obstacles such as financial status of some penniless students and might not have access to mobiles or smartphones. From all of these aspects, the government has taken up the option of televised classes.
In this COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown situation, state governments have been taking up online classes. However to compensate the syllabus for the students impeccably by using other modes such as online classes for the academic time with the schools being closed. Teachers have been conducting the classes for the students through Google meet, Zoom, and many other online modes to complete the syllabus. With the new academic year, beginning schools have also commenced the online session for the next academic session.
