There is no restriction or ban on filling up of posts, says finance ministry. The Ministry of Finance clarified there is no restriction or ban on filling up of posts in the Government of India, a day after it issued an order banning creation of new posts in central ministries, with a view to ease pressure on government resources due to the current fiscal situation. In a new circular today, the ministry said normal recruitment process through various government agencies will continue, adding that Friday’s circular only deals with internal procedure for creation of posts.
“There is no restriction or ban on filling up of posts in Govt of India. Normal recruitments through govt agencies like Staff Selection Commission, UPSC, Rlwy Recruitment Board, etc will continue as usual without any curbs,” it adds.
Finance Ministry clarifies that Dept of Expenditure circular on economic measures yesterday doesn’t affect recruitment in any way.
In a circular issued on September, the Department of Expenditure, which comes under the Ministry of Finance, banned certain non-developmental expenditure “to ensure availability of sufficient resources to meet the needs of important priority schemes”.
In the document, the Center also announced “a ban on the creation of new posts in Ministries / Departments, attached offices, subordinate offices, statutory bodies and autonomous bodies, besides the approval of the Department of Expenditure”. Mr. Gandhi, who was critical to the center’s handling of the coronovirus situation, gave the government a slogan on the circular.
