When do high school classes and polytechnic colleges start?  High Court orders government to respond. The Chennai High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu government to explain when high school classes and polytechnic colleges will be started.

The Class 10 public examinations were cancelled at the end of March due to the spread of corona and the Tamil Nadu government announced that all had passed. The marks are calculated on the basis of the marks obtained in the quarterly and half-yearly examinations and attendance and the list of marks is also published.

However, S. Balasubramanian, the father of Varun Kumar, an engineer from Coimbatore, has filed a petition in the Chennai High Court seeking to declare that the candidates who had obtained hall tickets to write the Class X examination directly without studying in schools have also passed.

In the petition, it has been announced that the admission of students for Class XI and Polytechnic will start on August 24. They have stated that they will lose one year due to discrimination in not declaring the individual candidates as having passed.

The petitioner has demanded that the admission of high school students and students in polytechnic colleges should be postponed till the results of the examinations are published and the candidates should be declared as graduates and ordered to provide the mark sheet.

The case came up for hearing in a session of Justices MM Sundaresh and R Hemalatha. It has been a month since the results were announced, as it has been announced that the exams for the individual candidates will be held from September 21 to 26. But the petitioner argued that the individual candidates have been affected as it has been announced that the first student admission to the upper classes will take place on the 24th.

Following this, the judges adjourned the hearing to the 25th, ordering the Tamil Nadu government to explain when the upper classes and polytechnic colleges are to be started.
