APEDA organizes Virtual-Buyer Seller Meet in UAE
- The Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) organized a Virtual-Buyer Seller Meet to harness export opportunities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to promote the export of millets and its value-added products on 2 February 2023.
- India’s major millet exporting countries are U.A.E, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Oman, Egypt, Tunisia, Yemen, U.K and U.S.A., The varieties of millets exported by India include Bajra, Ragi, Canary, Jawar, and Buckwheat.
MoHUA signs an agreement with Engineers India Limited
- As part of the ‘Green Growth’ agenda announced in budget 2023-2024, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Engineers India Limited to develop Waste to Energy and bio-methanation projects in cities with a population of million plus.
- From this MoU, MoHUA has decided to set up large-scale solid waste processing facilities in million plus cities. For management of organic/wet fraction of municipal solid waste bio-methanation plants have been proposed in these million plus cities.
- There are 59 million plus cities in India like Lucknow, Kanpur, Bareilly, Nasik, Thane, Nagpur, Gwalior, Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore to name a few.

Indian origin woman become Ranking Member of US Immigration Subcommittee
- Indian-American Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal has become the Ranking Member of the powerful House Judiciary Committee’s panel on Immigration, and this makes her the first immigrant to serve in a leadership role for the subcommittee.
- Jayapal is 57-year-old representing the 7th Congressional District of Washington State succeeds Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren to serve on the Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement.
The image of the King of England has been removed from Australian currency notes
- Until the reign of Queen Elizabeth II of England, currency notes bearing her image were in circulation in Australia.
- In this case, the Central Bank of Australia has announced that the new Australian dollar will have locally designed features, hence the decision to remove the images of King Charles III from the currency notes.

Union Minister inaugurate an event “Towards Panchamrit” in Haryana
- Union Minister for Heavy Industries Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey will inaugurate a one-day mega event “Towards Panchamrit” at International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), Manesar, Haryana on February 4, 2023.
- The event will focused on Technical sessions on developing technologies for Hydrogen, EVs, Biofuels and Gas fueled vehicles;Automotive Industry leaders, Senior Government Officials from NITI Aayog, MHI, MoRTH, MNRE, MoEFCC, MoP, MoP&NG, etc are participated in the event.
First KG to PG campus started under Mana Ooru-Mana Badi initiative
- Telangana’s first KG to PG campus is inaugurated at Gambhiraopet, the KG to PG campus at Gambhiraopet would be named after Telangana ideologue, academician and social activist professor Jayashankar.
- Under KG to PG free education initiative, apart from government schools, Kasturbai Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Model School, Government Junior College, Government Degree College and Post Graduate College are being set up in one campus.
- Mana Ooru-Mana Badi means, Our Village-Our School initiative with a budget outlay of over 7200 crore rupees to benefit 19.84 lakh children of over 26 lakh schools.
Madhya Pradesh government renames Bhopal’s Islam Nagar village
- The Madhya Pradesh government announced that Islam Nagar village, situated in the Bhopal district, has been renamed as Jagdishpur; Dost Mohammad Khan, the founder of the princely state of Bhopal, titled it ‘Islam Nagar’ in the 18th century.
- Islam Nagar is located in the centre of the Bhopal-Berasia highway. It is around 14 kilometres from Bhopal. ‘Islam Nagar’ was once the capital of the princely state of Bhopal.
Chief Electoral Officer of J&K was appointed
- The Election Commission of India has approved the appointment of the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Pandurang Kondbarao Pole as the new Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir.
- “In exercise of the powers conferred by sub- section (1) of section 13A of the Representation of the People Act, 1950 (43 of 1950), the Election Commission of India in consultation with the Government of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir,appointed Pandurang Kondbarao Pole as a Chief Electoral Officer.

Niladri Roy appointed as Director (Technical) in ECL
- The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Niladri Roy for the post of Director (Technical) in Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL). Now, he is serving as Executive Director in Coal India Limited (CIL).
- According to an order issued from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) on 1st February 2023, Roy has been appointed to the post for a period with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post till the date of his superannuation.
Rohit Kumar Agrawala appointed as Director (Finance) in CPCL
- The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Rohit Kumar Agrawala for the post of Director (Finance) in Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL). Now, he is serving as Chief General Manager in Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).
- According to an order issued from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Agrawala has been appointed to the post for a period of five years with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post on or after March 1, 2023.
Manuela Roka Botey becomes the Equatorial Guinea’s first Female Prime minister
- Equatorial Guinea’s longtime President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo has appointed Manuela Roka Botey as the country’s first female prime minister.
- Botey, who was a deputy minister for education in the West African country, replaces Francisco Pascual Obama Asue, who held the position for nearly eight years.
GOC of Army’s Vajr Division was appointed
- Major General Girish Kalia assumed charge as General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the elite Vajr Division from Major General Abhijit S Pendharkar on 1st January 2023.
- Major Gen Girish Kalia was commissioned on 14 December 1991 from IMA, Dehradun into the MADRAS Regiment.
M Subbarayudu appointed as India’s High Commissioner to Namibia
- The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced that M Subbarayudu, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to Namibia,
- “Shri M. Subbarayudu, presently Ambassador of India to the Republic of Peru, and he joined the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) in 1994.

T20 Final between India and New Zealand
- The 3rd and final 20 over cricket match between India and New Zealand was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
- India beat New Zealand by 168 runs in the tournament, and makes a new record. Previously India’s best win in 20-over cricket when they beat Ireland by 143 runs in 2018.
